September 22, 2025From Forensics to Facials: Jo Glenton’s Aesthetics Journey

Jessica Chipman • September 30, 2025
From balancing her role as a forensic nurse in police custody to transforming her garage into a thriving clinic, Jo’s journey is proof that it’s never too late to follow your passion.
Jo is a nurse of nearly 25 years who took a bold leap into aesthetics at the age of 52.
With resilience, care, and the right support tools, she’s built a business where clients feel valued and confident.
A “Now or Never” Moment
Jo began her aesthetics journey in February 2020, just weeks before the world went into lockdown. While many would see this as bad timing, Jo turned it into an opportunity.
“In hindsight, lockdown gave me time to reflect, reset, and build a strong foundation for my business.”
Her background in nursing spans nearly 25 years – including 7 years on a busy acute medical ward and an incredible 18 years as a forensic nurse in police custody. (Fun fact: she’s even appeared on Police Interceptors!)
For years, Jo had been fascinated by aesthetics, but it wasn’t until the age of 52 that she decided to take the leap.
“I finally had that now or never moment — and I’ve never looked back.”
Building a Clinic with Care at the Heart
Though she still works part-time in police custody, Jo has steadily grown her aesthetics business into something she’s proud of.
One of her proudest achievements has been transforming her own garage into a bright, modern, light-filled clinic – a space she designed entirely herself.
It’s not just functional but welcoming, a reflection of the care and attention she brings to her clients.
But the journey hasn’t been without challenges.
“One of the biggest hurdles was building a trustworthy reputation in an industry so many people want to be part of. Clients often tell me that in other clinics they’ve felt rushed, like they’re part of a cattle market. I never want that. I make it a point to give every appointment the time and attention it deserves.”
This commitment to quality care has paid off. Many of Jo’s clients have become genuine friends, and her reputation has grown through word of mouth.
The Joy of Connection
For Jo, aesthetics isn’t just about treatments – it’s about the relationships she builds. She loves that her clients often leave feeling more confident, cared for, and listened to.
“The best part of my work is seeing the difference it makes to someone’s confidence. It’s incredibly rewarding — and many of my clients have become like friends.”
Working as a solo practitioner could feel isolating, but Jo has built strong connections with fellow practitioners in her area. Those relationships have provided encouragement, inspiration, and practical advice along the way.
Finding the Right Support with ANS
Two years into her business, a colleague recommended Aesthetic Nurse Software. Jo hasn’t looked back since.
“Honestly, I can’t praise ANS highly enough. It’s like having my own PA, secretary, bookkeeper, and organiser all in one place.”
For Jo, ANS has transformed how she manages her business:
- Our booking system saves hours of admin and is easy for clients to use.
- Our deposit system keeps bookings secure and reliable.
- Our support team responds quickly and with patience – vital for someone who admits she’s not the most tech-savvy.
“I’ve never once been made to feel silly asking for help, and I’m grateful for that. Everything with ANS just works.”
Advice for Other Practitioners
Jo is quick to recommend ANS to others in the industry.
“You don’t need to be tech-savvy with ANS — it’s simple, seamless, and really does take the pressure off. I even invited another practitioner to join, and I got a free month’s subscription as a bonus!”
Her advice to other practitioners? Build your business around integrity, care, and trust – and don’t be afraid to lean on the tools and networks that make life easier.
Looking Ahead
Jo’s story is one of resilience, balance, and passion. From forensic nursing to running her own thriving aesthetics clinic, she’s proof that it’s never too late to follow your calling.
Her journey reminds us that in aesthetics, success isn’t just about treatments – it’s about relationships, reputation, and the right support system behind you. And with ANS by her side, Jo has the freedom to focus on what she loves most: helping her clients feel their best.
