August 29, 2025Word-of-Mouth Magic: How Lisa Whiting Built a Thriving Aesthetics Clinic

Jessica Chipman • September 11, 2025
With nearly two decades of experience in aesthetics, Lisa Whiting is what she jokingly describes as “a bit of an aesthetic dinosaur.” But her approach to patient care is anything but outdated.
At her clinic, Lisa Whiting Medical Aesthetics, she has built a thriving practice that runs entirely on loyalty and word-of-mouth referrals.
“I’ve always run my business this way,” Lisa explains. “My doors aren’t open to everybody – patients come through recommendations. It creates a lovely thread of friendship between them, and it means my diary is always full without time-wasters or no-shows.”
From Surgical Nurse to Aesthetic Specialist
Lisa’s journey began in the operating theatres, working as a surgical nurse. A chance encounter with a cosmetic surgeon in need of a nurse specialist led her into aesthetics.
“I had no idea what it was, but I signed myself up. That was 18 years ago, and I’ve never looked back.”
She eventually left the NHS to focus on aesthetics full-time, bringing with her a strong foundation in patient safety and ethics.
“I only offer treatments I’d be happy to give my mum, grandma, or sister,” she says. “If it doesn’t meet that test, I won’t offer it.”
A Unique Approach to Treatments
Lisa is known for her focus on regenerative medicine and her signature “undetectable injectables.” Her favourite treatment? Profhilo and Profhilo Structura.
“If you chopped my arm off, it would say ‘Profhilo’ right through me like a stick of rock,” she laughs. “I love it because the results are long-term and natural. I’m not about instant gratification – I love showing patients their year-later photos when you see the real transformation.”
Lisa prefers to focus on improving the skin and tissue first, then adding filler only when necessary. “Patients come to me because they don’t want to look ‘done’ – they just want people to notice they look well.”
The Challenge of Social Media
Despite her busy diary, Lisa admits that social media isn’t her strength. “I use it for presence rather than advertising,” she explains.
“I don’t have the time or flair for snazzy content, and thankfully I don’t really need it. But I do think patients like to have a peek online before booking.”
Finding the Right Software
Running a solo clinic means Lisa relies heavily on her clinic management software.
For years she used another provider but grew frustrated with clunky systems and unreliable features.
“The final straw was when patients stopped receiving their text reminders. I had ten no-shows in one week. Every time I called support, I was told it was ‘user error.’ It just wasn’t working for me anymore.”
A colleague introduced her to Aesthetic Nurse Software, and Lisa hasn’t looked back.
“I love the simplicity. My patients get their reminders, my aftercare emails go out automatically, and I can trust that it works.”
One of her favourite features is the reporting dashboard.
“The graphs are brilliant – I can instantly see my most popular treatments and track trends without having to build complex reports. It’s quick, clear, and exactly what I need.”
She also appreciates the flexibility when booking treatments.
“If a patient comes in for Botox but also wants fillers and a peel, I can add it all under one appointment. With my old system, that would have been three separate bookings. It’s a small thing, but it makes a huge difference.”
Final Thoughts
Lisa is clear in her recommendation for other practitioners considering ANS.
“I’d have absolutely no hesitation suggesting they make the switch. It’s simple, reliable, and designed for clinics like mine. The free trial is a great way to try it without committing – I only wish I’d done it sooner.”
For Lisa, Aesthetic Nurse Software supports what matters most: a safe, ethical, and personal experience for every patient.
