With nearly two decades in the aesthetics industry, Donna Gibson, founder of DG Medical Aesthetics & Skin, is a true pioneer.

A registered nurse since 1997 with a background in surgery, Donna made the leap into aesthetics in 2005 – and hasn’t looked back since.

“I started aesthetics training in 2005, just for fun really – I never imagined it would grow into a full-time business!”

From NHS to Aesthetic Practitioner

After years balancing her NHS role alongside aesthetics, Donna eventually made the decision to go all in. Today, she runs DG Medical Aesthetics with her daughter Kerry, who has just completed a postgraduate master’s in nursing and brings eight years of aesthetic experience to the clinic.

“We’re a real family team – transparent, honest, and not ‘salesy’. Our patients say it feels like visiting family when they come in.”

What started as a side project has now grown into a thriving clinic with around 800–1,000 clients. Donna attributes much of her success to genuine patient care and integrity.

“We’re all about safety, honesty, and helping people feel great about themselves. For us, it’s never been about the hard sell – it’s about confidence and care.”

When asked which treatments are most popular, Donna didn’t hesitate:

“Botox – always Botox! It’s our number one. Fillers come second, and we’re also exploring new treatments like polynucleotides and laser.”

A Focus on Safety and Education

Donna’s medical background shapes her approach to aesthetics. She’s passionate about patient safety and public awareness around regulation.

“As nurses, our job is to keep the public safe. Even if patients go elsewhere, we just want them to see reputable practitioners.”
